In her address to more than 600 delegates of the annual meeting of the Ontario Secondary School Teachersâ€™ Federation (OSSTF), President Rhonda Kimberley-Young told the McGuinty government that despite some positive changes in education there is much left to do. The conference is being held at the Sheraton on the Falls in Niagara Falls, ON from Saturday March 11 to 13.
â€œThe government has made a commitment to reverse much of the damage and improve Ontarioâ€™s education system. Dalton McGuinty has said he wants to be known as the education premier. We continue to point the Liberal government in the direction that would help the government and the Premier achieve their objective,â€ said Kimberley-Young.
â€œWhether we are talking about the delivery of special education programs, ensuring sufficient numbers of support staff in schools, addressing the underfunding of adult education, reforming curriculum, or improving literacy by focussing on pedagogy instead of politics, there is still much to achieve to improve education,â€ she said.
