Paul Dewar, newly elected MP for Ottawa Centre, is the first member of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) to be elected to the House of Commons.
â€œWe are extremely pleased to see one of our members going to the House of Commons,â€ said ETFO President Emily Noble.
â€œAs a teacher and ETFO activist, Paul will bring important skills to his job as MP. He will be an outstanding voice for the people of his riding, for public education and for the children we teach,â€ Noble said.
download dark floors free â€œAmong the issues Paul will face is ensuring that there will be no backtracking on the national child care program that the previous government negotiated with the provinces.
â€œThis is an important program for children and their parents. Access to high quality child care will have a positive impact on childrenâ€™s success in school,â€œ Noble said.
Dewar, an elementary school teacher, is a long time ETFO activist. He has been the vice-president of the Ottawa-Carleton Elementary Teachersâ€™ Federation local and has served on a variety of provincial federation committees.
