Getting ready for "Back to School"?  At www.songs4teachers.com teachers will be able to view, download and print 2 FREE "Back to School Songs" to use in their classrooms. Songs are suitable for children aged 3-7. Songs will be in PDF (portable document format) readable on all computers regardless of software installed or the type of system. There is a link to the Adobe web site for teachers who need to download the free version of Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 in order to view and print these songs. I plan to feature 2 FREE SONGS on the Web Site at all times…theme-related, seasonal or just for fun!  My Web Site will provide an opportunity for teachers to suggest topics for FREE songs. I will write them!

FREE Personally Written Song - For a limited time only, with every purchase of a Songs4Teachers book or CD I will write a song for your class related to a theme/topic/unit/occasion of your choice. The purchaser simply needs to provide me with some general information and the song will be created and sent via e-mail.

The Songs4Teachers book has been in my head for over 20 years. The 101 songs in this collection were written in response to my attempts to "survive" the trauma of having to bring music to my students. This "Collective Survival Package" also included teaching myself to play the ukulele and guitar in order to take the focus away from my singing when I worked with my students. It was a successful strategy and we all survived.

After reading stories with my class, I had difficulty finding a song related specifically to that piece of fiction. As a result, I wrote a song. Many a "snake", "insect", "shoes", "pet dog", "Franklin™" or "Clifford" song was quickly created and sung with my students. All songs used "old favourites" ~ songs from the public domain ~ as the models. Anyone can sing "Mary Had A Little Lamb" and "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean". The songs were created in my head, lyrics written, often with the help of my students, and we had an instant song about Franklin™ going to school or a snake slithering in the grass - a truly collaborative effort.

I had compiled a number of songs over the past 13 years while working with primary students. It was time to gather these songs, edit, re-write and add more songs related to themes that I have been using with children for the past 7 years while working as a Library Resource Teacher.

This book is the first one published. All songs are chorded for guitar. The book includes 101 theme-related songs, lyrics to the "old favourites", activity suggestions and a guitar chord chart. There is no music to read ~ songs are ready-to-sing.

The next books: More Songs4Teachers, Songs4Older Kids and Songs4God~Sung by Kids are underway.
Some of the songs are still in my head.

My Web Site www.songs4teachers.com offers a link to the publisher who is currently selling the Songs4Teachers book as an e-book, a PDF version, for download.

In addition, at www.songs4teachers.com, I will be offering the hard copy of the book Songs4Teachers and a CD Version. The CD includes: the book in PDF ready to print, MIDI sound files of the "old favourites" used in the songs, lyrics to the old favourites and information concerning MIDI sound files, what they are, how to play them on a computer and how to download MIDI's from the internet.
