Ontario Principals’ Council Recognized for Magazine Excellence for Second Year

For the second year in a row, the professional magazine for Ontario’s public school principals and vice-principals, The Register, has won two prestigious “Tabbie Awards” from Trade, Association and Business Publications International (TABPI).

The Tabbies is an annual, international editorial and design competition for magazines catering to trades, associations and businesses. This year, almost 800 entries from around the world were submitted in 18 categories. The Register received Honorable Mention awards in two categories:

- Best Feature Article for “Bullies and Babies,” Vol. 7 No. 4, December 2005
- Best Opening Page or Spread for “Bullies and Babies” Vol. 7 No. 4, December 2005.

“Winning an international magazine competition two years in a row is a great achievement for The Register, “ said Blair Hilts, President of the Ontario Principals’ Council. “The recognition confirms the high quality delivery of information to public school leaders, and that our efforts to provide supports for principals and vice-principals through their professional magazine have not gone unnoticed.”

TABPI endeavours to bring together editors of English-language publications worldwide and encourages design and editorial excellence through the Tabbie Awards. More information and a complete listing of Tabbie winners may be found at www.tabpi.org.

The Register is published quarterly by the Ontario Principals’ Council, a voluntary professional association representing over 5,000 principals and vice-principals in Ontario’s public elementary and secondary schools. Established in 1998, the OPC advocates on behalf of public education and provides professional supports to its members.
