New Brunswick Education Minister Madeleine Dubé Back to School Message

“The excitement that comes with the opening of school is invigorating. Each new school year brings with it a new beginning filled with plans, hopes and dreams.

This year more than 115,000 students will attend public schools province-wide, and the Department of Education is committed to providing each of them with the best public education possible.

During the 2005-2006 school year, we will together with educators and parents continue our journey to educational excellence. One specific way we can make a difference is to continue implementing the Quality Learning Agenda that focuses on increasing student learning and academic performance.

Close co-operation between the home and school is essential to promote the best interests of all students. I would ask that parents get involved in the education of their students. The actions taken by parents can make all of the difference in a child’s success at school.

It is our hope that we can work together to promote high student achievement. New Brunswick’s public education system is one of which we should all be proud. By working together, we can make it even better and ensure our students are ready for the challenges they will face throughout their lives.

As we approach the start of another school year, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the students, their families, teachers, educators and school staff the very best for a successful and satisfying academic year.”
